Queen Alexandra Bandstand - Physical Description 1
The Queen,Alexandra band stand was constructed in 1908 by the Ballaarat City Council. The structure is octagonal and pleasingly terminates in a distinctive, faceted onion dome above a ventilating drum. The main body of the roof is finished with a decorative iron upstanding trim below which a further section of. roof cantilevers out beyond the colonna"de. The timber .bench seats are arranged as two concentric octagons. The band stand lends a refined air to Sturt Street; a most important feature is its intactness. The structure has survived unaltered since 1911. It is, therefore, important that in the future it is maintained in its present pristine condition.
