Statement of Significance
The Echuca canon compares with the Borough of Eaglehawk canons which were obtained from the same source. It is an important relic in the history of the Victorian Navy and an important nineteenth century street furniture item.

The Cannon located in Civic Reserve, Echuca, is one of 126 provided for the Navy battleship "Nelson", launched at Woolwich in 1814 and subsequently arriving in Victoria as one of the ships of the Victorian Navy. It was brought to Echuca in 1898 following the decommissioning of the "Nelson". The Echuca canon compares with the Borough of Eaglehawk canons which were obtained from the same source. It is an important relic in the history of the Victorian Navy and an important nineteenth century street furniture item.
