SNELSON'S BOATYARD AND SLIPWAY - History
Snelson's Boatyard and Slipway, produced small yachts and steamers, and later became Fitzsimmons Boat Hire (Somerville, pers comms). Snelson also ran a boat hire service from 1895. Fitzsimmon's boathouse was located near Chifley Drive, and hired out boats during the 1920's.SNELSON'S BOATYARD AND SLIPWAY - Interpretation of Site
The site is likely to have strong social significance as a former recreational facility. There may be archaeological significance attributed to the potential artefact scatter under the water and under the river bank and former boathouse structures.

SNELSON'S BOATYARD AND SLIPWAY - Heritage Inventory Description
The former site is evidenced by an area of worked large stone boulders (approx. 10 m wide) in the beaching wall of the bank that are angled into the water, which may be the remains of the former slipway structure.
Bluestone blocks and archaeological deposits associated with former site.
Archeological Potential: Good
