DAREBIN CREEK 12 - History
Heritage Inventory History of Site: Point of Darebin Creek and entrance to the City of Melbourne. The site forms part of the Turnpike Rd, which was the original crossing point of Darebin Creek. The bridge and Old Heidleberg Road were established in about 1840. The bridge had been sold by the late 1860s.Heritage Inventory Description
DAREBIN CREEK 12 - Heritage Inventory Description
Road along south-eastern edge of Sparks Reserve, Ivanhoe. Leads up from Darebin Creek where the original crossing was established in about 1840. This road is therefore the continuation of Old Heidelberg Rd. A timber bridge was present at this location until the Heidelberg Rd bridge was constructed in 1863-4. The road is lined by elms and Osage Orange trees and called Turnpike Rd. Road. Not asphalted before about 1894
