CASHIN BROTHERS FLOUR MILL - History
Heritage Inventory History of Site: The mill was built in the 1850s, reputedly by Hugh Keen of Portarlington. It was owned and operated by the Cashin brothers. It closed in 1876 after an outbreak of rust brought wheat growing in the region to an end. One of the first flour mills in Victoria and operated from early 1850s - 1876 and was powered by water wheel fed by race from Olinda Creek.CASHIN BROTHERS FLOUR MILL - Interpretation of Site
Site was used by the Cashin Family producing flour in the second half of the 19th century. Area is now a recreational park, with the ruins of the mill fenced orff from public access.
CASHIN BROTHERS FLOUR MILL - Historical Significance
The mill was established before the area was known as Lilydale and was the first industry in the area. The Cashin family were a prominent family in the early Lilydale.

CASHIN BROTHERS FLOUR MILL - Heritage Inventory Description
Ruins of a flour mill consisting of 2 sections of a stone wall brick-faced on one corner. Walls appear to have been part of 6 x 6 m building and stand about 5 m high at their highest point.
