Statement of Significance
The Band of Hope Mine area consists of the filled shaft of the Band of Hope Mine and a large intact mullock heap with sixteen dumping lines. The area has partly revegetated.
The Band of Hope Mine is historically and scientifically important at a LOCAL level as a characteristic example of an important gold mining technique. Gold mining sites are of crucial importance for the pivotal role they have played since 1851 in the development of Victoria.
Overall, the Band of Hope mine is of LOCAL significance.
