MELBOURNE ROAD WELL SITE - History
Not known at this time, although the house site appears to have been occupied in the early 1940s and most probably much earlier. Craig Staggard (David Mitchell Estate) informed that his grandparents had lived in the house. His recollection was of a weatherboard house with stone footings.
MELBOURNE ROAD WELL SITE - Interpretation of Site
The well is associated with a demolished house site (date unknown). Possibly associated with housing for the David Mitchell Estate Line Quarry at Cave Hill, Lilydale.
