Veterans Description for Public
Westgarth Drill Hall - Veterans Description for Public
The Westgarth Drill Hall was located on Simpson Street. From the period 1884-1901 militia orderly rooms such as the Westgarth Drill Hall were built by the Victorian Public Works Department and were universally constructed from timber and to a similar design. The seminal examples of this era are Ballarat, Bendigo, Castlemaine, Portland and St Kilda which were all designed by architect Samuel Bindley. Of the twenty-eight examples of this type built, only eight remain.
