After discussion with the Shepparton historical society it seems the site may contain refuse from the demolition of one or more of the 19th century houses located along Welsford Street. This interpretation is supported by the presence of handmade bricks, clinker bricks, slate roof tile, drainage pipe (pottery) etc.
