Statement of Significance
The Horsham Town Hall was designed by Charles Neville Hollinshed, the architect of the Village Theatre, Toorak and the architect responisble for architectural renovation of Her Majesty's Theatre, The Regent Theatre, Brisbane and the Comedy Theatre. Performances have been given by Sir Bernard Heinz, the MSO and Peter Dawson. The Town Hall was opened in 1939.
The building retains some Art Deco features but they are not unique to the Horsham Town Hall and as an example of the architect's work - there are considered to be other, and better, examples. However, it is significant at the local level, historically, as an expression of local government in Horsham and culturally for its long associationin the lives of the people of the town.
