    Canakkale Gardens - Veterans Description for Public

    The Canakkale Gardens symbolise the bond between Moorabbin's citizens and the citizens of Canakkale, Turkey, the closest city to the Gallipoli battlfields. The mayor of Moorabin Cr. Barry Neve and the mayor of Canakkale Ismail Ozay dedicated the garden on April 24th 1993. At the ceremony sand from Anzac Cove was combined with Australian soil and two Aleppo Pines were planted to commemorate the bond.
