Archaeological deposits from refuse and cess pits may provide some insight into the health and living conditions of the clergy who first lived on the site.
The northern portion of the site at the time of inspection was being excavated to a depth of over 1.2 m with concrete footings having been recently laid. The eastern side of the extant church also had some machine work being carried out at the time of inspection. The expanse of lawn and garden between the Church and Henna St and the sealed surfaces to the south towards the rectory could have preserved the remains of the earlier church, such as post holes and other footings. Remains of the earlier church could also be present within the footprint of the existing Rectory, between the foundation trenches. Earlier garden beds and borders and paths, as well as refuse and cess pits associated with the manse, or earlier version of, are also likely to be presentTIMBER CHRIST CHURCH SITE - Historical Significance
