Memorial Window Description & History
Stained Glass Window at North Brighton Baptist Church - Memorial Window Description & History
In July 1921, stained glass artist William Montgomery was asked by the Secretary of the North Brighton Baptist Church to estimate the cost of stained glass and leadlight for a new church being erected in Bay Street. The quote for £117.0.0 included an Honour Roll and 19 other leadlight windows, all fixed in place in the the building. The new church was opened on Saturday 8 October 1921, by the president of the Baptist Union of Victoria, Mr. WHG Ellingworth in front of a large congregation. The windows have not been located and it is unknown whether Montgomery was ultimately awarded the commission.
