Memorial Window Description & History
Stained Glass Window at Brunswick Methodist Church - Memorial Window Description & History
The Wesleyan church, designed in polychrome and elaborate decorative brick finishes by Percy Oakden, was built in 1872, a feature of the Sydney Road streetscape. On Sunday 16 October 1921, a memorial window to the Brunswick Methodist Church men who enlisted was unveiled by His Excellency, the Governor-General, Lord Forster, DC, GCMG. The Master of Queen's College and former Army Chaplain, the Reverend EH Sugden conducted the ceremony of praise and later that evening Padre James Gault, also a returned Army Chaplain, preached on the subject 'Crosses in Flanders, and the Cross of Christ'.
