Stained Glass Window at Elwood St. Bede's [now removed to Holy Trinity, Balaclava] Anglican Church - Memorial Window Description & History
St. Bede's Anglican Church, designed by architects North and Williams, was opened in September 1916, glazed entirely with leadlight quarries. The window in honour of the men from the parish who fought in the Second World War was possibly designed by Alan Sumner. In the first years after the Second World War Sumner fulfilled orders for his old firm, EL Yencken & Co., usually in the tradition style that would be expected by their clients. St. Bede's congregation amalgamated with Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Balaclava when their church was sold in 1995, and the seven stained glass windows were re-set in a side chapel, now dedicated to St. Bede.
