Statement of Significance
B Listed - Regional Significance
STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE'Prospect', a two storey colonial Georgian style residence of Barrabool sandstone construction and slate roof, was erected in 1861 for pioneer settler John Leigh. Andrew McWilliams, well known district architect/surveyor, designed the house in a conservative, axial composition. Leigh and his family (direct descendants of whom still remain at 'Prospect') were noted innovative farmers in the district. 'Prospect' is one of the most substantial homesteads in the Ceres district.
