    The Dunkeld lock-up, stables and former WC is a complex of structures located on the corner of Parker and Templeton Streets in the centre of the township of Dunkeld. The lock up is single storey symmetrical bluestone building in the Victorian Period (1851-1901) Georgian style. To the front of the building is a symmetrical entrance porch, the door of which is made from iron bars. The simple gable roof is covered with slate. The interior includes two cells accommodating a small number of prisoners; small high-level windows with iron bars provide light and ventilation. The walls are finely detailed rock face blocks of local bluestone. The structure was designed by the Public Works Department and built in 1861-2 by contractor John Gray of Geelong (Saunders, 278). The lock up is identical to those at Balmoral and Cavendish.
    
    The stables are set some distance to the south of the lock up. They are rectangular in shape, approximately 3 metres by 6 metres, the ridgeline being about 3.5 metres. The stables are also built of rock-face bluestone. There are three 'windows' with fixed timber louvers on north side. There is a standard timber door at the eastern end and a large opening with double timber doors into a loft area above. A large door at the western end has been crudely introduced with a new concrete lintel. Above this there is a small louvred opening to the loft. The main entrance appears to have been on the south side. The simple gable roof has deep eaves and is clad with corrugated iron. Simple timber brackets support the eaves at each end.
    
    The third building is a WC again built to a standard design in rock face bluestone. It is approximately 1metre by 2metres and is 3 metres high to the ridge line. The gable roof is corrugated iron. There is a small ventilation hole in the gable.
