Statement of Significance
The Bills Horse Trough located in the Lions Memorial Park on the Glenelg Highway is pressed cement trough, identical to others which were installed throughout Australia by George and Ann Bills as part of a campaign to provide horse troughs throughout Australia. The standard design has become a very common feature in some metropolitan suburbs and many rural towns in Victoria. The trough was installed in the 1920s and is in good condition, retaining a high degree of integrity. The park is the former site of a blacksmith's shop, and later the site of a rabbit freezing works. No physical fabric remains of these past uses.

Bills Horse Trough are of historical significance to the Southern Grampians Shire and to the township of Glenthompson.

The Bills Horse Trough is a pressed cement horse trough of standard design. The back includes a tri-partite panel with a plaque stating that the trough was provided by Annis and George Bills.
The park contains children's playground equipment, and a memorial arch to the community erected in 2000.
