Statement of Significance
National Estate Register:
The Lethbridge Railway Station is one of a notable group of stylistically similar railway station erected in 1862
on the Geelong Ballarat line. This structure is an excellent example of country railway station architecture of
the 1860s in Victoria, designed by talented and innovative Railways Department architects and at a time of
great railway building activity in the State. The Ballarat-Geelong line, which opened on 10 April 1862, includes
important viaduct structures at Moorabool and Batesford. (The Commission is in the process of developing and/or upgrading official statements for places listed prior to
1991. The above data was mainly provided by the nominator and has not yet been revised by the Commission.

Lethbridge Railway Station - Physical Description 1
National Estate Register:
The Lethbridge Railway Station on the Geelong-Ballarat line was erected in 1862 by contractors John Campbell and Company from designs prepared by Victorian Railways architects. This regular coursed, squared basalt structure in the Victorian Italianate style consists of a part two storey station office, residence, lamp room and toilets with timber verandah over the platform.
Lethbridge Railway Station - Integrity
Condition and Integrity:
The Lethbridge Railway Station was extended by construction of a weatherboard kitchen and wash house prior to 1923. Minor internal alterations have also been effected, otherwise the structure is intact. A bus service has replaced the passenger train network.
