Statement of Significance
'Glendalough' is of State significance and is included on the Victorian Heritage Register as H1202. Please refer to the VHR Hermes record for the statement of significance. The following statement of significance is from the Flemington and Kensington Conservation Study (1985).
Architecturally, an uncommon and successful variation on an excepted suburban style, seen elsewhere in the general streetscape and retains original planting and fence, and a hillside setting: of metropolitan importance.
Historically, litte is known of Norman Grey: of local interest as a successful tradesman from the social class which occupied Travancore.

GLENDALOUGH - Physical Description 1
Red brick bungalow in form, but considerably improvised from both the typical Bungalow seen elsewhere in Travancore and the original permit application drawings. Typically gabled, with Marseilles tile roofs shingling and heavy verandah piers but atypically equipped with a bazaar round chimney, an exotic lunette and is in near original condition. Overgrown but atmospheric, the garden retains early planting and is encased by a distinctive stuccoed fence sculptured in an ox-bow profile. The intact gateway is a bonus (refer also to 512 Racecourse Road).
GLENDALOUGH - Integrity
Appears original .
GLENDALOUGH - Physical Description 2
Adjoins later buildings but concurs with the overwhelming Bungalow character of the area.
