Statement of Significance
The former garage, now known as De Bretts Antiques, is historically important as a substantially intact, purpose-built, Inter War motor garage (Criterion A). The building dates from a period when car ownership was increasing rapidly, creating a need for garages within the urban context. Although the former garage is relatively plain, its simplified Inter War architectural form and typology contribute to the commercial architecture of Mt Alexander Road (Criterion E).
