Statement of Significance

Architecturally, a successfully articulated example of the typical suburban Bungalow style, which is here displayed on a corner as part of a miniature estate with its distinctive dark-stained prototype at 124.

      House at 126 Albert Street - Physical Description 1

      Similar to 124 but much larger and more articulated, the house has the Bungalow multi-gable form and stained boarding (gables and fence), but also an encircling verandah on the east which is echoed in the entrance porch on the south side. Each verandah/ porch device has paired columns, with trellis infill, placed on the typical chunky verandah piers, here in tuck- pointed clinker brick. Extended brackets to eaves and struts to the roof overhang add to the plethora of timber detail. The attic has window strips and a shingled gable, being (as with the rest of the house) more extensive than its 124counterpart. ,Upper walling of 126 is rough-cast stucco with boards confined to the dado.
