ARAWATA STATE SCHOOL NO.2970 (FORMER) - Physical Description 1
The Arawata State School No. 2970formerly onthis site has been demolished. Itwas typical single room weatherboard school with a gable corrugated iron roof and a large multi-paned bank of windows at one end. Therewas an external chimney on the west side, and Health Department vents along the roof ridge. The entry and cloakroom were at the rear under the main gable.
The only surviving building on the siteisthe small rectangular shelter shed, which is located near the rear boundary. This has a hipped roof with visible rafters and trellis above a weatherboard dado.
The Arawata Union Church is on the adjacent site to the west, and the former teacher's residence is situated on the west side of Church. It is a weatherboard building of typical postwar design with a low pitch iron gable roof.
