A boom period building built in 1886/7 for James Aitken, manufacturer and extended 1890/91.
Dalkeith is of significance for the intact nature of its aggressively boom-time facade, including the cast iron, joinery, paving and render details and particularly for the unusual and opulent form of its verandah.
