BATTERY POINT - History
Heritage Inventory History of Site: Originally the site of the "observatory" (1839) and then flagstaff (1854) and lighthouse complex (1859). The lighthouse was removed to Whalers Bluff in 1889.Heritage Inventory Description
BATTERY POINT - Heritage Inventory Description
A semi-subterranean battery and magazine was constructed on the site in 1889. 1994 - the site has been restored.
Heritage Inventory Significance: A unique site and one of three battery sites in Western Victoria dating from this time.
