Statement of Significance
Ozone Hotel was built for James George Baillieu during the years 1881 -83 by W. Dalley to the design of architect W.S. Ellis. First known as Baillieu House then Baillieu's Hotel. George Francis Baillieu took over the hotel from his father and renamed it Ozone after the paddle steamer.
The Ozone is an extravagant boom-style piece of architecture.
