Statement of Significance
The narrow gorge has been cut in sandstone. A well formed, winding road runs through it from the Bass River to Glen Forbes South and Bass Hill. Remnants of a wet sclerophyll forest remain along the creek line, upper slopes are cleared, but scattered remnants of Messmate, E. obliqua, forest still stand.
When travelling down this gorge the focal view is impressive - Western Port framed by the sides of the gorge.
LOCATION:
Tributary of Bass River, south of Glen Forbes.
Recorded: 07/08/1973
