AVENUE OF HONOUR AND WAR MEMORIAL - History
Heritage Inventory History of Site: Avenue of trees planted in 1919 to honour the men of Guildford who served in World War I. Date of installation of memorial not certain, but likely to be the same date as the trees. The names of the Guildford residents who served in WWII have been added to the memorial. New trees have been added when old ones have died.

Avenue of trees along Midland Highway between Guildford road bridge and railway bridge. Granite war memorial at southern end of avenue.
Heritage Inventory Significance: Significant to local community as a memorial to those in the community who served in World Wars. Also significant in a statewide context (although not of state significance) as part of a statewide trend for memorial plantings after the war.
