Heritage Inventory History of Site: The hotel existed as early as 1854 when it was shown, with no name, on a map entitled "Plan of Fenton's Section and Small Farms on Bullock Creek between Ravenswood and the Porcupine Inn, District 79". It appears on later maps under the name of the Ravenswood Hotel.
RAVENSWOOD HOTEL - Interpretation of Site
Heritage Inventory Interpretation: There were at least two separate structures. That closest to the highway was probably the hotel itself and that at the rear possibly accommodation or stables.

RAVENSWOOD HOTEL - Heritage Inventory Description
The site is marked by three large depressions, scattered brick and historical artefacts. There are remnant plantings of irises. The site has been disturbed by an Optus cable.
Heritage Inventory Significance: High archaeological significance. The structures themselves appear to have been removed, although the foundations and possibly three cellars remain. There are certainly in situ archaeological deposits at the site. High regional historical significance. This was one of the earliest permanent buildings in Ravenswood and was probably an important stopping place for travellers to the Bendigo gold fields in the mid to late 1850s.
