Heritage Inventory Significance: Statement of Significance: Milton House was erected as a private hospital in 1900 by contractors Kinnear and McMillen for Dr William Moore. The architects for the building were Sydney Smith and Ogg and it has been suggested that Robert Hadden acted as the designer with respect to the facade, roof, staircase and window detailing. The exterior design is a fine example of architectural compassion utilising Art Nouveau decorative components applied to a simple symmetrical building form. The building includes high quality examples of decorative metal work and stained glass work. The interior is also interesting for its use of curved surfaces and simple detailing: a direct product of its use as a hospital.
