MCINTYRES ROAD MINE SITE - History
Heritage Inventory History of Site: The site was probably a short-lived gold mining area from the late 19th century. As such, it is unusual this close to Melbourne. A considerable amount of gold prospecting was conducted in the eastern suburbs during the latter half of the 19th century, but little evidence survives. This may be the closest mine to Melbourne.
