DAVID CLARK HOUSE - SHOESTRING, 31 METERY RD, ELTHAM - Physical Description 1
Style originally Victorian.
Design originally standard.
Plan originally rectangular.
Single storied.
Walls of original section weatherboard clad timber stud construction.
Roof altered.
Shoestring has been very extensively added to and altered.
An external inspection in August 1998 shows what may be the early buildings on the site, including two narrow gabled wings, one at the front being weatherboard and the other at the rear, brick. The brick wing has a fretted barge board on the south end but the cladding of the timber wing appears to have been replaced, including the addition of Edwardian-era detailing to the front verandah and changes to openings. A large wing has been added on the north and another small addition on the east.
