Heritage Inventory History of Site: Mywee School began life in 1894 as the sheepwash Creek School which was held in a wattle and daub room on the north side of Mywee Rd on Edward Cope's property. The current site was chosen to be closer to the railway siding and has been in use since 1906, although the original school & teachers residence were removed to Katandra in 1923, rural schools being portable Mywee (S.S. 3200) was re-opened in 1944 with the current building which began life in 1929 as Strathmerton West (S.S. 2792).
MYWEE SCHOOL (S.S 3200) - Interpretation of Site
Heritage Inventory Interpretation: The current school building is important to the local community and although it closed as a school 7 years ago, continues to used as a community centre. Due to the shifting fluctuating population most rural schools at this time were portable and they are quite well represented on the register. Also of interest is the fact that Sir Murray Bourchier who was Member for Goulburn for twenty years, attended debating class at Mywee School when it was Sheepwash School (Bossence 1979:202 & 207)
