This railway station is a significant local landmark, at an important road and rail junction, formerly known as 'Keilor Road' and serving a railway line of great historical importance as the first Government-built railway line in Victoria. The present station played a major role in the life of the Closer Settlement farming families in the early years of this century and in the local economy.
