CHARCOAL BURNERS - BOOMAGONG - Interpretation of Site
Heritage Inventory Interpretation: these were used for manufacturing charcoal, used in blacksmith forges and in gas converters in cars during the war when petrol was scarce.

CHARCOAL BURNERS - BOOMAGONG - Heritage Inventory Description
Two large metal charcoal burner retorts, approx 30 - 50 m to the east of the Strathmerton-Tocumwal railway, with associated ridges, pits, European tree planting's and waste dumps./n
Heritage Inventory Significance: Low local, there are no other charcoal sites on the heritage inventory. They are therefore rare and may be of some significance to the history of the industry.
Heritage Inventory Site Features: Two large metal charcoal burning retorts approx 5 m tall. A ridge which was once a spurline leading to the site ,buffers remain, European tree planting's, waste dumps-bricks, crockery shards etc pits.
