MORWELL BRIDGE 2 - History
Heritage Inventory History of Site: Maybe related to hotel /Cobb & Co staging post on southern side of road (refer Morwell Bridge 1). Local history suggests site was on westernside of river, but informants from historical society think otherwise. could also be the location of a n 1869 wattle & daub house built be the Fleming family.

Heritage Inventory Interpretation: Appears to be a late 19th/early 20th century house site. No surface indication of house structure (brick footings appear to be related to more recent activities - incinerator) but scatter of cultural materials present.

Abandoned house. Site on northside of Old Melbourne Rd, east of Morwell River. Site consists of large cypress pine windbreak. some ornamental plantings (Robinia pseudoacacia) and remains of small brick structure. Cultural material (glass, ceramic) scattered across surface of site./n
Heritage Inventory Significance: Moderate scientific significance, as it contains a limited range of cultural material with no evident stratification, it is in a deteriorated condition with a high level of disturbance, but is assessed as being an occasional occurrence in the local area.
Heritage Inventory Site Features: Windbreak of cypress pines, ornamental plantings, & small brick structure.
Archeological Potential: Relics/Deposit
