RAILWAY TURNING CIRCLE - Heritage Inventory Description
Remains of a railway turning circle - also known as a "balloon loop". There are no iron rail tracks or timber sleepers present.
Heritage Inventory Significance: High local historical significance. High scientific research potential, especially in the flat, fenced area.
Heritage Inventory Key Components: Earth remains. Post and wire fence. Associated with the site is a corregated iron and timber shed, adjacent to twodilapidated ashphalt tennis courts. To the west of the turning circle is an area of land enclosed by a waist high cyclone fence - possibly the remains of a railway station used for loading and unloading. Heritage Inventory Site Features: The most obvious physical remain is a large loop dug into the earth. The width could accommodate a narrow gauge rail track. The shed appears to be a shelter shed, associated with the tennis courts. The flat fenced area west of the circle is covered with concrete.
Archeological Potential: High scientific research potential, especially in the flat, fenced area.
