ADITS EAST OF DEVILS KITCHEN - Heritage Inventory Description
The first adit is 150 metressouth east of the Oldhall mine. The adit is not open, but has a substantial mullock heap which is 25m long and 20m wide and up to 4m high at its southern end. The mullock commences at approximately twenty metres from where the adit portal would have been. The second adit is a further 200 metressouth east and has approximately the same dimensions. There is also a flattened area immediately adjacent to the end of the cutting that led to the adit portal. The third adit is a further 120 metres south east of the second and is slightly smaller. The entrance is covered with a thick growth of weeds. The mullock at this site is 20m long by 5m to 10m wide and up to 2m high./nThese adit workings have no other features other than the mullock and entrance formations, there are no other features that indicate how they operated. Along with adits wihin and on the south west of Devil' Kitchen, they are interesting as examples of adits driven under a lava flow searching for deep leads.
