Statement of Significance
Statement of Significance as recorded under the Queenscliff Heritage Study 2009
No. 64 Learmonth Street is of historical significance as an example of the simple architectural form of early buildings in Queenscliff. It is largely intact to its two phases of construction (c. 1864 and 1866), and provides unusually clear evidence of the common process of expansion in residential buildings.

64 Learmonth Street, Queenscliff - Physical Description 2
Extract from the 2009 study
64 Learmonth Street is a single-storey stucco rendered cottage with parapetted gable end walls and a slate roof with a painted brick chimney. It is probable that this front section of the house was added in brick during 1866. The original stone section of the building with a truncated hip roofed still exists to the rear.[i]
A deep verandah supported on steel posts with cast-iron lace work brackets and frieze runs across the front elevation, enclosed by flanking walls to each end. The verandah appears not to be original and may have replaced an earlier timber-posted structure.
The central front entrance door with a glazed fan light above is flanked by multi-pane double-hung sash windows with deep sills. A low blockwork wall with a metal gate along the front boundary has replaced the original timber picket fence and gate.[ii]
