TRUGANINA TIP SITE - History
The property was originally purchased by T. Briggs & J. Robinson in 1858. A house is said to have once stood on the property and this artefact scatter is most likely to be associated with the domestic rubbish generated from the house occupants. The house construction period and demolition are unknown.TRUGANINA TIP SITE - Interpretation of Site
The site most likely represents a domestic rubbish tip associated with the domestic dwelling that once stood on the same block. The artefacts observed from teh tip could easily be from teh 1850s to 1920s period, possibly even a little later.
TRUGANINA TIP SITE - Archaeological Significance
This is a collection of mid to late 19th century domestic artefacts. Due to ths, and that disturbance has occured to the site in the form of ploughing, tree planting and fencing, the archaeological significance of this site is low.
TRUGANINA TIP SITE - Historical Significance
The surface artefacts appear to represent the standard domestic items of the period. Some historical background research into the occupants and the use of this area would be beneficial to build more complete history of the region. However, the general historical significance of this site is low.
