ST ALIPIUS CATHOLIC SCHOOL - Physical Description 1
This red brick school of an H-Form is of interest for the Flemish Baroque gable ends and roof ventilators. There are two large gables presenting to Sturt Street with Flemish Baroque treatment to the gables terminating in Norman crosses. Joining these is a smaller transverse gable section with a smaller gable, again of Flemish Baroque, with a circular window piercing the gable. The roof is marked by a central large ventilator which has two gablets, glass ventilating lourve and a spire with crockets terminating in a small Norman cross. Closely spaced along the roof ridges are torpedo shaped ventilators.
This building is an important element of the environmental area, especially in conjunction with St.Alpius Presbytery.Heritage Study and Grading
