POVERTY GULLY MINE - History
The site is highly likely to relate to mid-19th century gold mining.POVERTY GULLY MINE - Interpretation of Site
Small scale mining site. Probably single phase exploratory gold mine consisiting of a single heading, 5M in length driven south-west into the hillslope, with prominent spoil heaps on each side. Located 100m to the south-east of the Poverty Gully (water) Channel, but appears unrelated to this channel. Additional earthworks lie within the woodland to the south-west. These have been partly disturbed by a forest access road.

POVERTY GULLY MINE - Archaeological Significance
Part of the 19th century mining landscape in the region. The site is of potential regional significance for evidence for mining exploration in an area with few other mining remans. The main part of the site lies in pasture and is moderately well-preserved. It may containsub-surface features and artefacts. The site is a good example of a small-scale exploratory mining venture, probably dating to the mid 19th century.

POVERTY GULLY MINE - Heritage Inventory Description
Site comprises a mining adit on a hill slope to the south of Poverty Gully Channel. The adit consists of a single entrance heading to the south west, with spoil heaps on each side.
