PHILLIPSON'S "ALBION" SAWMILL - History
THOMAS PHILIPSON ESTABLISHED HIS "ALBION" SAWMILL IN APRIL 1871. HE SUPPLIED TIMBER TO ELMHURST, MOUNT COLE (WARRAK), ARARAT AND LANDSBOROUGH. THE MILL PROBABLY OPERATED UNTIL ABOUT 1880PHILLIPSON'S "ALBION" SAWMILL - Interpretation of Site
Stone boiler setting would have supported a boiler up to 40 metres long and about 1.45 metres in diameter. The earthworks of the mill indicate a vertical breaking-down saw and a rip bench were installed, with the sawdust descent to the creek along a trench 17 metres long and 1.5 metres wide.
