Gherang Military Camp - Physical Description 1
Not surveyed. Some concrete blocks are thought to remain, located in Rochfords Road. The camp was built for the American Army in the second world war, but it was considered unsatisfactory. In 1942, the 6th Armoured Brigade of the 2nd Motor Division of the Australian Army was camped at Gherang. There was also a recreational hall built here by the Salvation Army - it was moved to Barclay Street, Winchelsea (see separate record). [Winchelsea Workshop/Informant]

Gherang Military Camp - Veterans Description for Public
The Gherang Military Camp, on Gherang Road, was built for the American Army in the Second World War, but it was considered unsatisfactory. In 1942, the 6th Armoured Brigade of the 2nd Motor Division of the Australian Army was camped at Gherang. There was also a recreational hall built here by the Salvation Army which was moved to Barclay Street, Winchelsea.
