Statement of Significance
Citation from 2000 Heritage Study and 2003 Heritage Review:
Recommended level of significance: local
The Campbellfield war memorial is of local historical significance as one of the few surviving features which relate to the original 19th century rural village of Campbellfield. It also demonstrates (as do all such local memorials) the very high level of volunteerism from such small communities and records the names of many of the former families of the district.

Campbellfield War Memorial - Physical Description 1
Located on the edge of the Seth Raistrick Reserve, and nearby the Scots Church precinct, but possibly relocated from closer to the highway. This is a fairly standard granite obelisk form of War Memorial bearing the following inscription:
ERECTED
IN HONOUR OF THE MEN
OF THE DISTRICT WHO TOOK PART
IN THE GREAT WAR
1914 - 1919
Also inscribed are the names of 40 local men who took part in the war, although it does not indicate casualties. The form of the memorial is quite sophisticated with a six sided smooth, tapered obelisk sitting on a plinth in three sections, the middle one inscribed. The whole thing is supported on a concrete block, probably from a past restoration, as the bottom of the plinth has been patched with the same concrete.
