GLENLEE HORSE DIP HISTORIC SITE - History
AS IS NOTED BY THE GLENLEE HORSE DIP LIST THE MEETING-PLACE OF 50 OR MORE FARMERS ENABLED SOCIAL INTERACTION. THIS WAS AN IMPORTANT FEATURE OF THE EARLY 1900S WITH THE LENGTH OG TIME TAKE TO REACH SUCH A FACILITY, IT GAVE THE FARMERS AN OPPORTUNITY TO CATCH UP ON NEWS AND GOSSIP AND SO FORTH.GLENLEE HORSE DIP HISTORIC SITE - Interpretation of Site
HORSES WERE THE PRIMARY MEANS OF TRANPORT OF BOTH GOODS AND PEOPLE TO THE AREA AND THE GLENLEE HORSE DIP WAS USED TO TREAT DEBILITATING DISEASES OF HORSES. THE HORSES WERE MOSTLY OF THE DRAFT VARIETY. THEY WERE LED INTO THE DIP WHICH FILLED WITH DISINFECTANT AND WATER. HORSES WERE NOT DIPPED FULLY AS SHEEP ARE TODAY.
