BANDIANA MILITARY RAIL COMPLEX - History
This site is part of a larger complex of warehousing, train and road networks that were built during World War II and are related to military usage.
The site was originally surveyed by Bell and Rhodes in 2005, prior to it being sold for residential development. A Consent to Damage (C440) over half was issued subsequently, on the 20 Sept 2005. This allowed for:
§ Disturbance of site to allow housing development.
In 2010, a discussion with a military historian, held as part of this project together, and a subsequent inspection of the site - found that the most of the site had been sold for residential allotments and much of it was destroyed (see Plan 2).
A small section of the site has been retained by the defence department and is preserved within the departments land. This is the most eastern section, being part of the reservation RES7E PS611704 and comprising the remains of railway tracks (H1 and H3) on the plan.BANDIANA MILITARY RAIL COMPLEX - Interpretation of Site

BANDIANA MILITARY RAIL COMPLEX - Archaeological Significance
The site is a small part of rail networks that were set up in support of the World War 2 effort. Most of the site has been documented prior to its recent destruction, and the rail tracks that remain are of low archaeological significance.
