Low scientific significance - poor condition and limited potential. Local historical significance - possibly used as a local watering-hole and horse-changing station, though more research is required.

PYKES ROAD, HISTORICAL HOMESTEAD - History
Local informant and landowner Bill Heath said that the built homestead was purchased by his great-grandfather Mr Maloney. According to Mr Heath, prior to the Maloney purchase the site was used as a local watering-hole and horse-changing station. Site clearly constructed pre-1870. Site burnt down by tenants in the 1970s.
PYKES ROAD, HISTORICAL HOMESTEAD - Interpretation of Site
Site recommended for further detailed historical research. House constructed pre-1870 and may have operated as a pub and horse-changing station on Murchison-Shepparton route. Post-1870, the house was purchased by the Maloney family after which time it became the family home.

PYKES ROAD, HISTORICAL HOMESTEAD - Heritage Inventory Description
Site located on the west side of Toolamba Rd, 100 metres north of Pykes Rd corner. Site represented by ruinous house foundations, exotic and native planted vegetation, well, fence, and farming machinery.
House foundations, including chimney base and brick foundations. Well, vegetation, fence and shed remains and agricultural machinery.
Physical Conditions: Very poor. House burnt to the ground. Highly ruinous state.
