MORONGO GATEHOUSE - History
Allotment 93, Parish Moorpanyal was originally purchased by John McWirther in 1849. John Calvertbought the property in 1859; teneders were advertised in this year for the construction of a bluestone homestead, stables, gates and gatehouse. John Calvert died in 1875 and the property was left to his family who remained there until 1906. The Geelong Presbyterian Girls College (Morongo) purchased the school in 1926. It was closed in 1994. The gatehouse was demolished in the 1970s and was derelict by this time. In 1996, Kardinia International School began operation which continues.MORONGO GATEHOUSE - Interpretation of Site

MORONGO GATEHOUSE - Heritage Inventory Description
Situated just north-east of the extant Morongo bluestone gates lies the location of the former gatehouse (demolished in the 1970s). The area is completely covered in dense grass; however there is evidence of mounding and a scatter of artefacts (slate, glass, ceramics) situated mainly in the road reserve. (This area offers a bit more visibility.)
Grassed mounds, artefact scatter, adjacent to bluestone gates and driveway.
Physical Conditions: Unknown.
