BELL POST HILL SERVICE BASIN - History
Heritage Inventory History of Site: The basin was designed by the Geelong Water and Sewerage Trust in 1924 and built in 1925. It was upgraded in 1963 and recently decommissioned. The basin was one of four that supplied industrial and domestic water to Geelong.Heritage Inventory Description
BELL POST HILL SERVICE BASIN - Heritage Inventory Description
Geelong Water & Sewage Trust water holding basin (for town water) at Bell Post Hill north west of the city centre. There is a basin, valve house, inlet tower, basin embankment walls, overflow pipe and rows of Cypress pines.
Heritage Inventory Significance: The Basin was altered in the 1960's but retains some of the original 1924 design features (valve house, inlet tower).
Heritage Inventory Site Features: Fenceline - site boundary.Basin - including wall, embankment and ramp.Inlet, outlet and overflow pipe - added in 1963.Inlet tower and valve house - part of the 1924 construction.Cypress trees.
